Instagram & Facebook
SUMC’s Instagram account has been largely dormant. Right now, I am managing both the Facebook and Instagram feeds via my LLC for the church. My official take-over for content creation and posting began the first week of February, 2019.
Photo & Video
Part of my LLC agreement with SUMC for their web and social media needs is my taking of pictures and videos to help enhance their overall web and social presence. This way, their feed looks like them and only needs to be supplemented with stock photos as necessary.
Sunbury United Methodist - Church Logo
One thing I noticed early on was that the church logo was in need of an update. At first glance, the existing logo didn’t give the name of the church or any information about the church with the exception of the it being located “at the crossroads.” The existing files were also lo-res and very bitmapped.
I created a logo that still played on the “Sun” in “Sunbury” theme, but made it a bit less harsh, and added the church name/web address so it makes sense people can find the church simply by looking at the logo. The “.org” can easily be removed when needed.
With the renewed focus on media and communications, I felt that SUMC was in need of a style guide in order to keep church communication unified and recognizable. I opted to begin with a one-pager to keep it simple for the staff and allow for quick reference for the overall church “look.” My personal goal is that this will allow people to easily identify in any digital or print communication that “yes, this came from the church.”
